FENX |Broken beauties at MATHGOTH GALLERY, PARIS

12 May - 24 June 2023

Mathgoth Gallery is pleased to present Broken Beauties , Fenx's new solo exhibition. Through ten canvases, the artist once again celebrates his vision of the beauty of women;this time exploring the passage of time and the effects of aging. Fenx imagines female portraits, with precise lines but without dwelling on too many details in order to let the viewer project themselves freely. These paintings pay homage to the timeless beauty that lies in the imperfections and small scars of life. The women represented proudly wear the marks of time, enhanced by the floral motifs that surround them. These same motifs, often used to represent ephemeral aesthetics, thus reinforce the idea that life is fragile and powerful at the same time. Fenx's technique, with precise and controlled strokes, thus forms strong, moving images that illustrate the wisdom, femininity and experience that come with age. As more spontaneously, they create an interesting visual contrast and emphasize the unique beauty of each person depicted in his paintings.Broken Beauties, like the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, celebrates the beauty of imperfection and impermanence, a reflection of the cycle of life itself. A principle according to which harmony lies in the natural and not in the absence of defects. This new exhibition exalts the multiplicity and richness of feminine aesthetics and its beauty, depicting its evolution over the years, while maintaining its magnetism and vigor intact.
