David Bruce (1977) is a visual artist from Paris working from his studio in Liege. He discovered graffiti at the age of 14 while commuting to different basketball courts to play with other kids. On the trains he would then see silver-coloured graffiti pieces and get inspired by these moving artworks. His first works were on the train tracks, but he wanted to see his works "traveling", and so he started spraying the trains himself.

"Graffiti pieces on trains are spontaneous and fast." There is only a small amount of time before the train starts moving again, so the graffiti artists have to use only a few cans at a fast pace while still making a visual impact. It is like a sport, which reflects in his visual references of various sports balls. His graffiti style carries over in David Bruce's studio works, where David combines acrylics and oils with his trademark spray cans. Together this creates a flat, playful style that is colorful and pleasing to the eye.

Since 2022, David has been an artist in residence at Nike, while simultaneously shown in various cities throughout Europe. While his work translates well to murals and streetwear, the beauty is truly emphasized by the canvases. David Bruce has also explored other mediums including sculptures, showing the creative versatility of him as an artist.

Vroom & Varossieau is pleased to announce that we will present David Bruce at Art The Hague 2022, as well as Art Miami 2022. We will show a great selection of signature works by David Bruce.
