The pearl of the East: HK Walls 2017

Posted on March 18, 2017

HKwalls is Hong Kong’s annual street art festival, with the mission to create opportunities for local and international artists to showcase their talents in Hong Kong through the mediums of street art and street culture. HKwalls' annual festival adds a much needed street art element to HK art month, providing the public with a completely free and accessible event by inviting artist from all over the world to create large scale works of art in the streets. Creating new and bold murals are the festivals number one priority, but HKwalls also hosts a number of other exciting events and activities complimenting the festival.

But first, let's have a look at HK Walls line-up for this year! And it's a true banger with a mixed bunch of international artists such as: Messy Desk, Spok, DILK, The Alphabet Monster, Zinan, Snik, The Collective, JECKS, Mauy Cola, SeeNaeMe, Tots, Wong Tin Fung, Zoer and Acit. The line-up reflects the intentions of the festival, a true mix of East and West with an focus on the connection between both.

A part from all the new murals that the festival will bring, there is an abundance of activities to participate in. From Street Art oriented film screenings, like "Obey this film"by Shepard Fairey (2014), brand new book presentations, exhibitions in galleries all over Hong Kong and art walks!

The first murals will be up on the 18th of March and HK Walls will be ongoing throughout the whole of Hong Kong Art month.
